Terms & Conditions

These Terms & Conditions (“Terms”) govern all bookings, courses, workshops, shows, and related services offered by The Improv Chippy Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (Company No. 16379136), with registered office at The Improv Chippy, VBA 3, E-Factor, The Enterprise Village, Prince Albert Gardens, Grimsby, North East Lincolnshire, DN31 3AT, United Kingdom (“we,” “us,” “our”). By booking or attending any of our activities, you agree to these Terms.

Definitions

  • “Workshop” - any individual class offered by The Improv Chippy, whether as part of a term, intensive, or as a standalone drop-in session.
  • “Course” - a collection of workshops with specific teaching aims and learning outcomes.
  • “Term” - a series of classes delivered over a number of consecutive weeks.
  • “Intensive” - a condensed series of classes delivered over a shorter period than a standard term (typically one week or less).
  • “Drop-In” - a one-off workshop held at a specific time and date.
  • “Student” - any individual enrolled in a course, workshop, or intensive.
  • “Teacher” / “Instructor” - any individual engaged by The Improv Chippy to teach a workshop or course.
  • “Audience Member” - any individual attending a performance or show as a spectator.
  • “Performer” - any individual performing in a show or Event organised by The Improv Chippy.
  • “Performance” - a scheduled entertainment Event taking place at a specified date, time, and venue.
  • “Authority Figure” - any teacher, instructor, teaching assistant, coach, director, staff member, or other person responsible or partially responsible for the running of an Improv Chippy event.
  • “Event” - any performance, show, course, or workshop organised or hosted by The Improv Chippy.
  • "Participant” - any student or performer partaking in an Improv Chippy event.
  • “Website” / "Site" - improvchippy.com.

Eligibility & Conduct

  • All students and performers (both internal and external) agree to abide by our Participation Policy.
  • All audience members agree to abide by our Audience Agreement.
  • All instructors (both internal and external), agree to abide by our Instructor Code Of Conduct.
  • We reserve the right, without refund, to refuse admission or to remove from any class or Event, any person whose behaviour is disruptive, unsafe, discriminatory, inappropriate or otherwise fails to comply with these Terms or those in our policies.
  • We reserve the right to terminate any contracts with instructors, performers or any members of staff with immediate effect and without recompense (except those granted by law) if they violate our Terms and policies.

Bookings & Payments

  • Bookings are confirmed once full payment has been received.
  • We accept payment through our online checkout or approved payment partners.
  • Booking fees (if applicable) are non-refundable except where a refund is required by law.

Pricing & Fees

  • All prices are listed in GBP (ÂŁ) and include VAT where applicable.
  • You are responsible for any bank or card processing fees charged by your provider.
  • We reserve the right to adjust prices before you make a booking.
  • Discounts and promotional codes cannot be combined unless stated.

Refunds & Cancellations by Customers

  • Refund eligibility depends on the type of service (course, intensive, subscription, digital product, show ticket, etc.).
  • Please refer to our full Refund Policy for detailed information.
  • Refunds are processed to the original payment method within 5-10 business days once approved.

Cancellations & Rescheduling by Us

  • We may occasionally cancel or reschedule Events due to unforeseen circumstances.
  • If we cancel before the start date, you'll receive a full refund, including booking fees.
  • If we reschedule and you can't make the new date, you'll also receive a full refund.
  • We are not responsible for additional costs (e.g. travel or accommodation) incurred due to cancellation.

Health, Safety & Liability

  • Participation in improv and performance involves physical and creative activity. You agree to take part at your own risk.
  • Please inform instructors of any relevant medical conditions or access needs before attending.
  • We are not liable for loss or injury except where caused by our negligence or breach of statutory duty.
  • Personal belongings are your responsibility during classes and Events and we are not liable for any losses.

Intellectual Property

  • All course materials, recordings, branding, and creative content belong to The Improv Chippy Ltd.
  • All content published on this Website is the property of The Improv Chippy Ltd.
  • You may not record, copy, distribute, or reproduce our materials. recordings, branding and creative content without written permission.
  • The Improv Chippy, Improv Chippy and Forkchair Logo are all registered trademarks belonging to The Improv Chippy Ltd and may not be used without prior written permission of The Improv Chippy Ltd.
  • Any Events you take part in as a participant may be recorded, filmed, or photographed for marketing, archival, commercial, or educational purposes by The Improv Chippy Ltd.
  • As an audience member, you may appear in such recordings or photographs. By attending an Improv Chippy Event, you consent to the use of your image, likeness, and voice in any marketing, archival, commercial, or educational materials produced by The Improv Chippy Ltd.
  • If you do not wish to be recorded or photographed, please notify a member of staff on arrival and we will do our best to accommodate your request.
  • We are not responsible for unauthorised use or reproduction of our materials by third parties or any personal, reputational, or professional consequences or damages that incur from their use.

Press & Media Use

Members of the press and media are welcome to reference or feature The Improv Chippy in editorial content, including use of our name, imagery, and approved logo files, for the purposes of fair reporting and promotion.

  • Use of our logos, images, or brand materials must accurately represent The Improv Chippy and must not be used in a misleading or defamatory context.
  • Logos and media assets may only be used in accordance with the Brand Guidelines specified in our Press Kit, where available.
  • Commercial or advertising use of our branding (for example, inclusion in third-party marketing or sponsorship) requires written permission from The Improv Chippy Ltd.
  • We reserve the right to withdraw permission for use of our materials at any time if the use is deemed inappropriate or damaging to our reputation.

Photography & Media

  • We may take photos or short videos during workshops or performances.
  • By attending, you grant us permission to use your image for promotional purposes unless you opt out in writing before or during the Event.
  • Photography and videography by students, performers, instructors and audience members at any Events is subject to our Recording Policy. Violation of the policy may result in your ejection from any Event without refund and may result in a ban from future Improv Chippy events.

Privacy & Data Protection

  • We handle all personal data in accordance with the UK GDPR and Data Protection Act 2018.

Accessibility & Inclusivity

  • We are committed to maintaining a welcoming and inclusive environment and continuously strive to improve accessibility across our classes and performances.
  • If you have specific access requirements, please contact us in advance and we'll do our best to accommodate you. If you have feedback about access, please let us know.

Force Majeure

  • We are not liable for delays or cancellations caused by Events beyond our reasonable control, such as extreme weather, strikes, or public health emergencies.

Governing Law & Jurisdiction

  • These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales.
  • Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.

Changes

  • These Terms and Conditions may occasionally be amended in order to maintain compliance with the law and to any changes in the way we operate our Website or company.
  • Any changes will be announced via one of our communication channels, such as email or Discord.

Our Website may contain links to websites and services operated by third parties. We are not responsible for the content, policies, or conduct of any third-party sites. Any damage or loss resulting from the use of a third-party site is not the responsibility of The Improv Chippy Ltd.
