🎭 Audience Agreement

At The Improv Chippy, we aim to create a safe, inclusive, and joyful environment where everyone β€” audiences, performers, and staff β€” can share in the fun and creativity of live performance.

By attending any Improv Chippy Event, you agree to abide by this Audience Code of Conduct agreement and understand that failure to do so may result in the consequences outlined below.

Respect for Performers and Fellow Audience Members

  • Treat performers, staff, and other audience members with respect and courtesy at all times.
  • Refrain from talking over performances or causing unnecessary distractions.
  • Refrain from using your phone except to take photos, videos or audio recordings which must be in compliance with our Recording Policy.
  • Heckling, shouting, or attempting to take over a performance is prohibited unless a performer specifically invites audience interaction.
  • Staff reserve the right to eject anyone without refund who fails to comply with these rules and such persons may be subject to a ban from future events.
  • Everyone is here to enjoy the event β€” let's keep the atmosphere supportive, positive, and fun.

Violence, Harassment & Discrimination

Violence, assault, abuse, intimidation, unwanted physical contact, harassment or discrimination of any individual or group based on any of the following protected characteristics as set out in the Equality Act 2010 is not tolerated:

  • age
  • gender reassignment
  • being married or in a civil partnership
  • being pregnant or on maternity leave
  • disability
  • race including colour, nationality, ethnic or national origin
  • religion or belief
  • sex
  • sexual orientation

Anyone engaging in such behaviour may be removed from the venue without refund and may be subject to a ban from future events.

If you witness or experience inappropriate behaviour, please speak to a member of staff immediately or lodge a complaint via the Formal Misconduct Procedure.

Accessibility and Inclusion

  • The Improv Chippy strives to make all events accessible to everyone.
  • If you have specific access needs or sensory sensitivities, please contact us before or during an event β€” our team will do everything possible to accommodate you.
  • We ask all audience members to be mindful of personal space and accessibility areas within the venue.

Alcohol and Substance Use

  • We encourage responsible enjoyment of alcohol where permitted, but disruptive or intoxicated behaviour will not be tolerated.
  • Staff reserve the right to refuse service or entry and to eject anyone whose behaviour negatively impacts others' enjoyment or safety.
  • Illegal drugs are strictly prohibited on venue premises.

Photography, Videography, and Audio Recording

  • Audience members must comply with our full Recording Policy.
  • In general, short clips and photos are permitted unless otherwise announced, but filming an entire performance or using flash is not allowed without permission.
  • Respect performer consent and privacy at all times.

Health and Safety

  • Follow all venue health and safety instructions from staff.
  • In the event of an emergency, please remain calm and follow evacuation directions.
  • Do not block aisles, exits, or accessibility areas. Please place bags under your seats.

Tickets and Seating

  • Your ticket guarantees entry but does not guarantee specific seats unless stated.
  • Please arrive on time; late arrivals may be seated at the discretion of staff and, if granted access, may have to wait for a moment in the performance the staff member deems suitable to enter.
  • If you are running late, please email your name and when you expect to arrive to late@improvchippy.com. Failure to do so may result in your ticket being resold if the event is sold out.
  • Refunds and cancellations follow our Refund Policy.

Consequences for Misconduct

  • Anyone who fails to comply with this Code of Conduct or other venue policies may be:
    • Asked to leave the event without refund.
    • Banned temporarily or permanently from future events.
    • Reported to authorities if the behaviour is unlawful.

These measures exist to protect our community and maintain a positive, creative environment for everyone.
