About This Course

Take our intro course and learn how to shake off the shackles of modern life, act spontaneously again and most importantly of all, have fun!

Each lesson progresses from warm ups and games, to scene exercises, and then to open-ended scenes, with each activity tailored towards a specific teaching aim. In the first half of the course we focus on the basics of how to build from nothing. Here you'll learn about core concepts like object work, active listening, reacting before responding, and building realities and relationships brick by brick through agreement. In the second half of the course you'll practice your new skills and learn how to guide them in the right directions by learning about game of the scene, heightening, edits, and more.

By the end of the course, you'll feel confident in your ability to improvise a scene based on any word and what's more you'll prove it - by putting on a short 20 to 30 minute show for friends and family. No previous experience of any kind is necessary. Our only requirements are that you're over 18 and can speak conversational English.

This course normally runs for a total of 24 teaching hours, either spread over 8 weeks with 3 hour lessons or over 12 weeks with 2 hour lessons. From time to time we will also offer this course as an intensive. If immersion is what you're after, keep a lookout for announcements!
